Paul stood in the beautiful tree house without anything idea of what to say. Tosha was standing over the sink experiencing blindness for the first time.

“Paul, I can’t see,” Tosha said with a look of panic on her face, “Why Can’t I see.”

Paul entered the slow state with tears in his eyes. He went through the house fixing the furniture, all the while guilt was building inside of him. He couldn’t help but feel like it was his fault for not waking up while they struggled through the tree house.

Paul finished cleaning everything and returned to his place next to Tosha. He exited the slow state without knowing how much real time had passed.

“Paul!” Tosha cried through the pain, “Why won’t you answer me? My eyes hurt so bad, I think I am going…”

Paul jumped forward to catch Tosha as she passed out from the pain. He laid her gently on a couch and sat holding her hand in his. Paul gazed at Tosha with a sad heart for many hours before he drifted to sleep.

Paul woke to a hand on his shoulder and instantly entered the slow state. He ducked under the hand and sprung to his feet, ready to attack.

“Paul, It’s OK,” Michael’s voice penetrated Paul’s thoughts, “I know what has happened. Tosha has slept because God allowed her to sleep through the pain until I was able to come.”

Michael brought the same sense of calm and peace that Paul had experienced the first time he had met Michael. He welcomed the overflow of joy and peace he felt.

Michael reached over and put his hands over Tosha’s eyes.  He then  turned to Paul with a look of compassion on his face.

“She will not ever gain her vision back,” Michael started, “But her wound has been healed. There will be no more physical pain when she wakes.”

“You can heal her wounds?” Paul said, “Why can you not give her eyes that can see again?”

“Paul, there are some things you need to understand,” Michael started walking towards the door, “Come and take a walk with me.”

Paul looked at Tosha with concern on his face, “But, what if Molter comes back?”

“He will not be coming back to this place,” Michael said  walking down the tree house steps, “There are many angels guarding it right now.”

Paul saw angels flying around the outside of the house on wings of lightning. They looked to be a fierce group of fighters, ready to defend Tosha and the tree house.

“We need to discuss how your training is going to continue,” Michael said as Paul walked next to him, ” It is going to be a bit different since Tosha has lost her vision. She is still going to be training as well, she will just have to learn to adjust.”

Paul noticed they were walking towards a river that was flowing nearby. His mind didn’t linger on the river long after Michaels last words.

” Adjust!” Paul shouted, “She is going to have to do more than adjust. She is blind, that is life changing, not a minor adjustment.”

“She will have to get used to it,” Michael said unphased by Paul’s outburst, “There’s no changing what has happened, she will learn how to cope and get through the world in a new way.”

Paul had many frustrations that he wanted to shout, it seemed as though Michael was unsympathetic to what had happened. He knew that is was useless to try and argue, so he just walked with Michael in silence.

“Tomorrow you will go on your next training exercise,” Michael said as they reached the colorful river’s edge, “You will learn about deception, and the how powerful that deception can be.”

“Who will stay with Tosha?” Paul said more concerned about her than his next training.

“She will be going with you,” Michael said, “She has no pain, her wounds are healed, the only thing that remains is the blindness.”

Paul began to develop a twitch as the anger rose inside of him. He chose not to voice his anger, but the twitch was causing the whole side of his face to jump around.

I know you are concerned for your friend, but you need to keep the bigger picture in mind,” Michael said pulling a leaf from a nearby plant and using it as a cup to drink from the river, “The war that is building in the world right now, is going to change the course of history.”

“If this war can only be seen by some, how is it going to change the world?” Paul asked, “I also do not understand why it is a big deal, it seems as though the events taking place have been small. Big in my world and a few others, but on a worldwide scale, they are very small events.”

“You still have not seen the extent of the evil that is rising in the world,” Michael said starting to walk back to the tree house, “The world doesn’t see it for what it is. The world see’s wars and countries fighting over money, land, religion and political agenda’s.  But what is really happening is an effort by the Shedim to bring about the end of the world. Ultimately their goal is to bring about the apocalypse and take as many souls to damnation with them as possible.”

By the time Michael had finished talking, they had arrived at the tree house. Paul didn’t want to learn more about the evil in the world at the moment, he wanted to check on Tosha.

“Paul, is that you?” Tosha said from her spot on the couch, “Paul I can’t see. My eyes are open but I can’t see.”

“Yes, it’s me,” Paul said sitting next to Tosha on the couch, “You can not see because Molter took your vision.”

“I remember now,” Tosha said with sadness riddling her voice, “I am scared Paul, I don’t get scared easy, but I am so scared.”

“Tosha, you will be okay,” Michael said still standing in the doorway, “You are going to have to adjust quickly. There is no time to allow you weeks to gather your senses. Stand up and walk to my voice.”

Paul could feel his face twitching again as Tosha stood, “Do we have to make her do this right now?” Paul said with an angry look towards Michael.

“Yes, we have to do this right now. You have one day to help her learn how to get around. Tomorrow you will be going to the Forest of psèma,” Michael said sternly, “You can call it the forest of lies.”

“Paul, it’s okay,” Tosha said, “I don’t want to sit and get depressed about what has happened. I want to learn how to function in the world now. My life will never be the same, but I will make the best out of it how it is now.”

With those words, Tosha started walking slowly towards Michael’s voice. She had her hands out in front of her and shuffled her feet along the floor. She made it to Michael extremely slowly but without falling.

“It is odd, without my eyes to guide me, I feel a little off balance,” Tosha said uneasily.

“That will improve with practice, you also need to learn to sense the things around you,” Michael said, “Let’s head outside and start learning to do that.”

Paul still didn’t feel like it was fair to assume Tosha would learn how to maneuver through the world in one day. Tosha seemed to be ready to try and Paul didn’t want to be the one stopping her from it.

“Ashur, please make a walking stick for Tosha,” Micheal shouted to one of the angels sitting on the railing of the tree house deck.

Tosha slowly made her way down the stairs without help from Michael or Paul. Michael kept walking towards a tree nearby, Paul came up next to Tosha and took her hand.

“Paul, I am going to need you to be my guide,” Tosha said softly, “I am not used to being a needy person, but I am going to need you to help me through this.”

Paul didn’t respond with words, instead, he squeezed her hand gently. They walked in silence for the next five minutes as Michael led them to a nearby patch of trees.

Ashur, the angel from the deck, dropped out of the sky with his magnificent wings. In his hand was a magnificent staff woven out of some type of  black tree branches. In the center of the weave as if suspend by an unseen force was crystal clear water that seemed to have its own light. At the top of the staff was a small hole that appeared to be fairly deep.

“Tosha, please accept this gift,” Said Ashur placing the staff in her hand, “You’ll find a place on the top to sheath your dagger in.”

Tosha ran her hands down the staff, feel the intricately woven branches. She placed her finger through the openings and almost dropped the staff.

“Why if the center of this staff wet?” She said surprised by what she could not observe.

“The center is made of water from the fountain the once flowed in the garden of Eden,” Ashur said proudly, “It will never run dry, and will keep your staff from becoming dry and brittle.”

Tosha pulled her beautiful dagger from somewhere behind her back and sheathed it in the opening at the top of the staff.  The moment the blade entered the staff, the water inside turned to a vibrant green, the same green that defined the daggers handle.

“The staff is radiating heat, what has happened?” Tosha said frightened.

“I have added a chemical that will allow the water to react with the blade of the dagger,” Ashur smiled, “This will allow you to know if your dagger remains in its sheath.”

Paul was astounded by the sheer beauty of the staff. He could not believe the Ashur had made this staff in the few minutes they had spent walking.

The rest of the day was spent teaching Tosha to listen for sounds around her. She learned to sense a nearby object before she walked headlong into it. She seemed to be learning at an unbelievable pace. By the end of the day, she could walk with her staff, unguided. She could dodge small objects being thrown at by the sounds they made in the air.

“It is time for your second lesson, You will leave tonight, ” Michael said when they had finished training for the day, “Tosha is ready to go into the forest of deception with you.”

Paul didn’t argue, he agreed that Tosha had made remarkable progress in just a short time.  There was also the fact that Tosha was not going to allow him to argue a case for her. She fully intended to succeed or die trying.

“I am guessing that lesson two has to do with deception?” Paul said with heavy sarcasm.

“That is correct, but there is more than just learning to not be deceived,” Michael said ignoring the sarcasm, “You will have to retrieve a letter that is going to Jasper. A small messenger demon has been tasked with carrying the letter. He frequents the forest to see a woman he has held captive there for a few months now.”

“Why have you not saved this woman!” Tosha shouted in anger.

“We’ve tried, she doesn’t want to be saved. She has been living under deception for so long, that she doesn’t even realize how miserable her life is right now.” Michael finished with sadness in his voice.

“We will save her while we get the letter from this demon,” Paul said reassuringly to Tosha.

“Enough talk, here is a map to the location where he will be found in the forest,” Michael handed Paul the map, “He will be here until midday tomorrow.”

Paul and Tosha headed for the tree house to gather a few supplies. Paul found a small pack and gathered some food from the cupboards. He also found A few bottles of water that he threw in.  Just in case there wasn’t water around the forest.

As paul and Tosha went down the stairs Michael gave them some final advice.

“There is something you need to remember,” Michael started,  “If a demon is not seen, he can take on the form of any human emotion. It is only an influence to you, but they can cause that very emotion to rise up from deep within yourself. Do not allow this tear you apart, recognize it and fight it. “

The moment Michael had finished talking an angel that Paul recognized appeared, It was Gabriel.

“Michael, we are to go to the aid of Madam Adlersflúgel immediately,” Gabriel said hurriedly, “The Shedim have grown in power in the empire of Freeland, the Phótenos does not have the resources to contain the southern borders of Montana any longer. I fear that Montana is going to be lost to the growing empire that Jasper has created. The world is changing, war is beginning to break out all over the west. The east is beginning to unite against Freeland in the name of a new ruler who is calling himself Athánatos.  I fear Montana is the only land left in the control of Phótenos.”

Paul and Tosha sat with their mouths wide open. They couldn’t believe what they were hearing. They had only been gone for a week at most, how could the world have changed that much.

“How is it possible for the world to have changed in a week?” Tosha said with sadness in her voice.

Gabriel turned to her, “Time does not obey the same laws here as it does in the Physical world. It has been three years in the physical word. The most historically significant three years in the past thousand years combined.”

“I want to go back to help Madam A, I am ready,” Paul blurted out through the anger rising up in him.

“You have a mission to complete, the best way for you to help is by stopping that letter.” Michael said, “Leave now, we will meet here the moment you have retrieved that letter.”

In the blink of an eye, Michael and Gabriel both were gone. Leaving Paul and Tosha alone under the darkening sky of the spiritual world.
